ABOUT ME

Rachel. 16. Irish.

I'm a clichéd reclusive teenager.
My attributes consist of a fat ass and a crappy attitude.
Art and music makes me happy and people make me stressed. That's it.

Ray Manzarek February 12th 1939 - May 20th 2013
Ray Manzarek - what to say that doesn’t sound like a cliche or hasn’t been said already? Doors co-founder? Genius musician? Possessor of some of the best sideburns in rock music history?
All of these and so much more. You know a person has lived a life rich in success when people mourn your death 46 years after your debut album  was released. How amazing must it feel to have your sound (and what a sound!) to be the music not only of your generation, but those that followed it?
Not only that, but how wonderful is it to live a long, full life where ambitions have been realised and your music has contributed to the memories of people who soundtrack their lives to your creations? That when that life comes to its end the people you love and loved you their whole lives through were by your side? A fucking fantastic life, that’s what.
Not to mention the friendships with his bandmates (sometimes fraught, to say the least). Especially that of his with Robby Krieger, the man he first introduced as a potential guitarist for the Doors, and toured with him still 40 years later. It’s a special thing to have a friend for life, what a loss Robby must be feeling today.
So, Mr Manzarek, thank you for the music and the memories. We raise our glasses to you, and we take your music forward into our lives as we pay tribute to yours.
A nice piece of trivia: When live footage of the Doors concerts were being put together for video release, the editors soon realised that the music was out of sync with the images that had been filmed. The only way they could piece it together was by watching Ray’s feet, which were tapping perfectly in time to the music that was being played onstage!

“There was no keyboard player on the planet more appropriate to support Jim Morrison’s words. Ray, I felt totally in sync with you musically. It was like we were of one mind, holding down the foundation for Robby and Jim to float on top of. I will miss my musical brother.” ― John Densmore.

Rest in Peace Ray Manzarek,February 12, 1939 - ∞.

Whenever anyone argues against marriage equality because of their religious views as a Christian I just want to hit them over the head repeatedly with a Bible whilst yelling

ADULTERY ISN’T ILLEGAL!!

LYING ISN’T ILLEGAL!!

DIVORCE ISN’T ILLEGAL!!

DISRESPECTING YOUR PARENTS ISN’T ILLEGAL!!

WORKING ON THE SABBATH ISN’T ILLEGAL!!

WORSHIPPING OTHER GODS ISN’T ILLEGAL!!

THE LAW DOES NOT FOLLOW THE BIBLE!!!!!

I’m a Christian and I approve this message.
